ConKerr Cancer A Case for Smiles:
Make a Pillowcase and Make a Child With Cancer Smile!
Last year’s Sew Free Retreaters sent me back home with 100 pillowcases to take to children at Asheville Children’s Hospital. I had just become a coordinator for ConKerr Cancer. May of last year was my first delivery and I have delivered 50 pillowcases each month since then. On my first visit, I met Aiden who is 6 years old, and his mother. He was so excited when I told him he could pick out a pillow case. He picked the one you see him holding in the picture. Since that visit, we have delivered 450 pillowcases to this hospital.
If you would like to help, you can make pillowcases before the retreat and bring them to me or
make them while you are at the retreat. You can earn two raffle tickets for turning in two pillow cases. Two tickets is the maximum number of tickets you can earn but you are definitely not limited to only donating two pillowcases! So, if you are willing to contribute to this wonderful cause for children, I would appreciate it so much. And I can assure you that the children and their families who receive your pillowcases will also be so grateful for your kindness.

That is up to you. Please use bright, cheery, 100% cotton fabrics that are kid-friendly. Don’t wash them as I wash and bag them before I deliver. I am also giving you my email in case you have questions or need to contact me for some other reason. I have also sent in all the deliveries towards the American and Patchwork & Quilting 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge, giving SewFree Retreaters credit for my first 100!
