It's now May, 2010 and we have just had a great time in Toccoa!  We had 71 Quilters together in a beautiful setting, with comfortable accommodations and great meals, sewing, laughing, and playing together.

Check out some of the fun and great times on Facebook.  Just put SewFree in the search column.  I think I'll let our photos speak for themselves.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Toccoa again in May, 2011.

Thanks for a great first year.

Susan

Dear Quilting Friends:                                                                                                        Fall, 2009

SewFree is a creation born of my experiences planning events, and training programs in my former work life.  Now that I am retired, it just seemed like a good idea to put that experience to work with my passion for all things fabric and offer this quilt retreat.  Over the next few months, this will be my "blog' so to speak:  a place to tell you more and more about what we have planned for you in Toccoa next April and to introduce you to some of the people who will be involved in making this a first class event.

My own quilting experience began sometime in my early teens and I have the UFO's to confirm it, but I "fell off the wagon" for many years as I became engrossed in a career and beginning a family.  Cross stitch became the hobby of choice (and I have some UFO's there too).  Now I have found a community of quilters who share my passion and addiction for all things fabric.  If you too have this affliction, join us and together we will form a support group (not to curb our addiction, but to support each other in our endeavors).

On August 14th the steering team met in Toccoa to do some retreat planning.

Back Row:  Peggy James, Carlie Nichols, Leslie Boone, Sherry Kosmetatos, Betsy Podriznik
Front Row;  Susan Gordon, Sarah Sanford, Bonnie Dossey

I am a great supporter of Quilt Guilds.  For several years I quilted in my lonely little room, not knowing that they existed.  Now I belong to three!  I'd join more if there was time..... so I am eager to support guild efforts.  Here's an idea to consider with your guild:

Quilt Guilds:  we'd like you to consider having your guild retreat with us.  We can give you space to sew together, if you'd like to do something special for your members, we can help with that too.  Contact me and let's see what we can work out to make this the best guild retreat yet.

I hope to see you in Toccoa in May, 2011!
